The person behind it
Aban Karkaria
Aban runs Karma by Nature on her own from Beaconsfield. She chooses the suppliers, checks the stone, answers the emails and packs the boxes. If you buy something and it disappoints you, she is the one who hears about it.

“You don't need to be the smartest, or the biggest, or even the most successful. You just need to be honest and show your true self.”
Aban Karkaria
How she got here
- Bombay, then England
- Aban grew up in Bombay and moved to England, where she built a life around work, family and a habit of finishing what she started.
- Finance
- She built the accounts function of a business from a box room to five million in turnover, and stayed until the numbers ran themselves.
- The house
- In her fifties she waited nine months for a self-build mortgage, read the builders' quotes, judged them too high, and project-managed the build herself. She booked the trades, tracked the costs, and moved in.
- Karma by Nature
- She wanted one thing that belonged to her alone. She picked the suppliers, the stone and the packaging, and started selling in 2025.
In her own words
“I have worked for other people for most of my life and I was good at it. Starting this in my sixties frightened me. Waiting nine months for a mortgage on the house frightened me too, and I still went ahead and ran the build myself.”
“When the first packaging arrived with plastic inside it, I sent it back. It cost me more to use honeycomb card instead. I would rather pay that than open a parcel and feel embarrassed by what I had sent.”
“As the business grows I want a share of it going to children's charities, orphanages and woodland. That part matters to me more than the size of the range.”
